The long-rumored return of former Spider-Man franchise stars Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield for the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home is arguably one of the worst-kept secrets in Hollywood. After months of speculation from fans and plenty of unconfirmed information leaks from the making of the film, we may have finally just gotten confirmation of their return from one of the franchise’s current stars.

Most of you will likely remember actor J.B. Smoove, who comically portrayed Peter’s teacher and field-trip chaperone Julius Dell in Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). The former Curb Your Enthusiasm star recently spoke to The Illuminerdi, where he let slip confirmation of not just one, but THREE major casting rumors for the third MCU Spider-Man film that fans have been talking about for months!

When Smoove was asked which villain he was most looking forward to seeing in action, he quickly replied that he was most looking forward to Jamie Foxx’s Electro, saying:

Jamie Foxx coming back, baby. Come on, what’s up, Jamie! That’s my dude right there, I’m excited, I’m very excited about it.

Foxx has long been rumored to be returning for this film after his brief stint as the supercharged villain Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014). While the studio has yet to confirm his inclusion in the film, the actor himself let slip months ago that he may be returning to the role again in a social media post that was quickly removed just moments after posting.

Smoove was then asked which former Spider-Man he was more excited about Tom Holland‘s Spidey teaming-up with, Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield. Without a second’s hesitation he replied:

Tobey Maguire of course, man.

This all but confirms that the two former Spider-Man stars will be appearing in the film! While long rumored, Marvel Studios and the actors themselves have vehemently denied their involvement with the film, though fans have long speculated that this is all a ruse to keep their inclusion under wraps. While several previously seen villains from their films made appearances in the trailer, neither Maguire nor Garfield themselves was shown. But now with one of Spider-Man: No Way Home stars seemingly confirming that both will appear, the secret may be out!

If it turns out to be true, Smoove may be in deep water with Kevin Feige and company over at Marvel, but realistically it was only a matter of time before someone spilled the beans. While it would have been pretty amazing to see the two former franchise stars show up in the film without any prior knowledge, fans have been talking about it for months at this point, so there seems to be little reason to keep the secret.
