‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’: Andrew Garfield Appears To Crush Hopes Of Seeing Him In The Threequel

It sounds as though fans can give up on the idea of seeing three live-action Spider-Men on the big screen in Spider-Man: No Way Home.  Despite early rumors that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield would appear in the upcoming Sony/Marvel collab, that doesn’t appear to be the case, even though it seems to have been confirmed that Alfred Molina (from Spider-Man 2) will appear as Doc Ock and Jamie Foxx (Amazing Spider-Man 2) will be back.  They join J.K. Simmons, who reprised his role of J. Jonah Jameson in the mid-credits scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home, after having played him in the Maguire flicks.

While appearing on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Garfield cut off the host when he brought up the question of No Way Home, with the caveat that he didn’t want to spoil the movie.

Garfield laughingly stated:

“There isn’t anything to ruin, bro! I had to quickly cut you off. There’s nothing to ruin.”

He added:

“It’s so crazy. Dude, it’s f***ing hilarious to me. I do have this Twitter account and I see how often Spider-Man is trending and it’s people freaking out about a thing. I wish I could be able to speak to everyone and just say, ‘I recommend that you chill.'”

Later, when Horowitz pressed him for a straight “yes or no,” Garfield replied:

“I can’t speak for anything else but myself. They might be doing something, but I ain’t got a call.  I feel like, haven’t I just said that? I did not get a call.  I would’ve gotten a call by now, that’s all I’m saying. I don’t want to ruin anything. Maybe they’re going to call me and say, ‘Hey, people want this!’ Maybe it’s a market research thing…”

Just to clarify, Spider-Man: No Way Home has wrapped. It wrapped in March. Sure there could be some reshoots, so Garfield could get a call for those, but if they wanted him to put the suit back on, wouldn’t they have given him more notice to get in shape?  What do you think?

You can watch Horowitz’s full interview with Garfield below:

Spider-Man: No Way Home is scheduled to open on December 21 of this year.
