The stars of the latest Spider-Man films, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon, had some fun on social media yesterday when they each posted images of the title for the next Spider-Man movie. Of course, those titles, Phone Home, Home-Wrecker, and Home Slice, were clearly jokes despite sticking with the “Home” naming convention displayed in the first two films. Little did fans realize, though, that these posts were all just a precursor for the actual film title announcement!

Tom Holland posted a video on Instagram a few minutes ago of a skit in which he comes out of director Jon Watts’ office and tells Jacob and Zendaya that he was given a fake name again. He laments that he doesn’t know why Watts would do that, and both Jacob and Zendaya exclaim it’s because Holland is always spoiling things about the movies. Holland protests as the trio walk off-screen, passing a whiteboard that shows the Spider-Man movie logo and the upcoming film’s subtitle:

Much of what we know about how the film relates to its connection to Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness and will likely deal with the idea of the multiverse as well as multiple Spider-Men. It will also deal with the fallout of having Spider-Man be outed as Peter Parker by J. Jonah Jameson at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home.

As expected, the next Spider-Man movie maintains the “Home” connection to the previous films, and I definitely have to say No Way Home is a great title. Of course, the only other possible title that could have exhibited the same theme would likely have been Spider-Man: There’s No Place Like Home, but they probably would have gotten some push back on that one.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is expected to hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
