Okay, it’s not a Marvel movie or another Avatar, but we all have our most anticipated movies of 2023 and for this Barbie Girl, it’s Warner Bros.’ Barbie based on the best-selling fashion doll of all time. This cast is stacked and now basically the ENTIRE cast has gotten character posters. As predicted, most of the actors are playing variations of Barbie or Ken with a few of their friends (and possibly some foes) thrown in as well.
On top of that, Mattel and WB have released the new teaser trailer which highlights what is presumably the first portion of the film set in “Barbieland.” You can check that out below before diving into the massive cast in their own posters.
Margot Robbie leads the cast of this Greta Gerwig-directed epic as the classic Barbie. Ryan Gosling portrays a Ken. But they aren’t the only ones playing those roles. This film is populated by a slew of Barbies and Kens and you can check them out. The cast also includes Issa Rae as President Barbie, Kate McKinnon as a… um, very well-loved Gymnast Barbie, Nicola Coughlan as Diplomat Barbie, Alexandra Shipp as Author Barbie, Ritu Arya Pulitzer Prize-winning Journalist Barbie, Hari Nef as Doctor Barbie, Emma Mackey as Nobel Prize-winning Physicist Barbie, Dua Lipa as Mermaid Barbie (which is effing delightful and perfectly fitting), Ana Cruz Kayne as Supreme Court Judge Barbie, and Sharon Rooney as Lawyer Barbie.
And then there’s Emerald Finnell who is playing Midge, and not just any Midge. She’s the infamous pregnant Midge that parents protested in the early 2000s.

And you can’t have Barbie without Ken or in this case, a bunch of Kens. Ryan Gosling plays the main Ken with Simu Liu as his biggest rival. Other Kens include Kinglsey Ben-Adir, the new Doctor Who Doctor Ncuti Gatwa, Scott Evans, plus Michael Cera as the “only one Allan.” (So is Allan the one who got Midge pregnant? Will they even address that?)
In addition to the various Barbies and Kens (and Alan and Midge), there will be some human characters. The plot will follow Robbie’s Barbie and Gosling’s Ken as they cross over into the real world.
America Ferrera and Ariana Greenblatt portray “humans” and it’s likely (but this is just a guess) they will be mother and daughter. Will Ferrell plays the president of Mattel, which is oddly similar to his role as “President Business” in the LEGO Movie. Jamie Demetriou plays “A Suit,” meaning he probably works for Ferrell’s character. Gatwa’s Sex Education costar Connor Swindells plays “an intern or something,” which also implies he works at Mattel. Finally, the legendary Helen Mirren will narrate the film, which was teased in the first teaser trailer. Interestingly, she gets a poster, so ishe mayappear in the flesh in the Barbie movie.
