It has been reported that Lewis Pullman is close to stepping in to replace Steven Yeun in Marvel’s Thunderbolts movie. While it has never been confirmed, it was widely believed that Yeun was going to play the character Robert Reynolds/ The Sentry.  Yeun announced his departure just weeks ago, citing production delays caused by the SAG and WGA strikes, which then created a scheduling conflict. It’s not clear what other project conflicted with Thunderbolts.

Interestingly, Thunderbolts will be directed by Jake Schreier who directed Yeun in the Netflix series Beef, which recently earned Yeun a Golden Globe and an Emmy  Eric Pearson wrote the first draft of the script, but Lee Sung Jin was then hired to rewrite it. The movie will also star David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/ Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/ Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/ Taskmaster, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova/ Black Widow, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/ U.S. Agent, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/ Winter Soldier, and Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross  Ford replaces the late William Hurt and will make his MCU debut in Captain America: Brave New World which eyeing a February 13, 2025 release.

If Pullman’s character does turn out to be The Sentry, that character is known for being a mentally unstable version of Superman who has the “power of a thousand suns.”

Pullman most recently played Calvin Evans in the Apple TV+ series Lessons in Chemistry He also played Rhett Abbott on the Prime Video series Outer Range. On the big screen, he appeared as Lt.
