Tatiana Maslany Doesn’t Think ‘She-Hulk: Attorney At Law’ Will Get A Second Season

Now that Deadpool is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it appears that Disney doesn’t need two fourth-wall-breaking protagonists. Tatiana Maslany starred in the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, but she doesn’t think that the legal comedy will get a second season.

While appearing on NerdIncorrect’s Twitch gameshow Codenames Live (which now appears to have been taken down), Maslany was asked if a sophomore installment was on its way, to which she replied:

“I don’t think so.  I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, ‘no thanks!’”

Now that’s not official. Disney and Marvel Studios have not announced a cancellation, but She-Hulk was not well-received, and Marvel is absolutely scaling back on its Disney+ output. MCU movies are faltering lately and some point to the glut of Disney+ shows as a contributing factor.

She-Hulk was created by Jessica Gao, who also served as head writer. The first season consisted of nine episodes. Reportedly, due to the special effects required to turn Maslany into a green giant, the budget was about $25 million per episode.

Maslany played Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk, who gained similar powers after getting some of his blood into her system. In addition to Ruffalo, other past MCU actors that popped up included Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/The Abomination, Benedict Wong as Wong a.k.a “Wongers,” and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. In fact, She-Hulk marked the first MCU appearance of Cox as Daredevil, following his cameo as Murdock only in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In addition, the series included Jameela Jamil as super influencer Titania, Ginger Gonzaga as Nikki Ramos, Josh Seggarra as Augustus “Pug” Pugliese, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Mallory Book, Mark Linn-Baker as Jennifer’s father Walter, and Jon Bass as the show’s villain Todd Phelps. While every episode featured guest stars as each revolved around a new legal case, the most high-profile appearance was by Megan Thee Stallion as herself and as a shapeshifting alien impersonating her to scam people. Another episode introduced the instant fan-favorite Patty Guggenheim as drunk party girl Madisynn King.

Once again, Disney and Marvel have not officially announced that She-Hulk has been canceled. And even if it is, Maslany could return as the character in another project.

Did you enjoy She-Hulk: Attorney at Law?  Would you like to see more episodes?
