First ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Trailer Hits The Web

Source: Marvel Studios

While True Believers have been enjoying some alternate timelines thanks to What If? on Disney+, we’re almost ready to return to the main Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline. And with so many projects in the pipeline for the rest of the year such as Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and The Eternals, we’ve been treated to some excellent trailers and promotional material that give us a glimpse at what’s to come. But things have been largely silent on the Spider-Man: No Way Home front so far. With a December 17, 2021, release date scheduled (as long as it doesn’t get pushed back thanks to another wave of COVID-19), many assumed that we would have at least gotten a teaser by now. However, it appears the wait is over.

After an unexpected turn of events over the weekend that were reminiscent of the web-slinger’s last movie where a VFX person leaked some top-secret footage prematurely, we can finally see the highly anticipated trailer for Peter Parker’s big-screen adventure. And this time, it’s not a video of a video with unfinished special effects.

During Sony Pictures’ presentation at this year’s CinemaCon, the studio unveiled the first official look at Jon Watts’ follow-up to Spider-Man: Far From Home. You can check it out in all its glory below:

Following many months of uncertainty thanks to some wild rumors, we finally have some answers. Due to Mysterio’s actions, the entire MCU knows Spider-Man’s secret identity. On top of that, they think he’s a menace (thanks in large part to J. Jonah Jameson). So what is a friendly neighborhood wall-crawler to do when his life is turned even more upside down than usual? He enlists the help of his wizard friend! Or is it sorcerer friend? Either way, despite a warning from Wong, it looks like Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr. Strange is on the case with a spell that makes everyone forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Nothing could possibly go wrong, right?

Obviously, amidst all the awesome action shots and an inkling of the plot, the trailer builds to a familiar voice uttering two simple words: “Hello, Peter.” Seeing Alfred Molina reprise his role as Doctor Octopus after all this time is incredible. But what are his plans? Previously, we learned Doc Ock’s story picks up from “that moment in the river.” So does that mean that he’s turned a new leaf or is a nefarious plan still brewing? Time will tell, but for now, we can just freak out that the multiverse has made this happen.

What do you think about the first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home? Which stars or characters are you excited to see share the screen with Tom Holland’s Spidey? And just how tangled a web do you think will be weaved thanks to Peter and Dr. Strange?
