Pedro Pascal Wins Best Actor At The SAG Awards For ‘The Last Of Us’

Following a fairly predictable awards season, “Everyone’s Daddy” Pedro Pascal shook things up at the SAG Awards with a surprise win for Best Male Actor In A Drama Series for The Last of Us. Pascal beat out three actors from Succession – Kieran Culkin, who bested Pascal at the Emmys (among others), Matthew Macfadyen, who won the Emmy for Supporting Actor, a category that the SAG Awards don’t have, and Brian Cox.  Billy Crudup was also nominated for The Morning Show.

(If it’s any consolation, Succession won for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. The SAG Awards are just for acting, so there’s no Best Picture, Series, etc.)

Pascal’s win came as a surprise to everyone including the actor himself, who showed up to accept his award drunk, thinking that he wouldn’t win or have to give a speech.

As he admitted onstage:

“This is wrong for a number of reasons.  I am a little drunk. I thought I could get drunk.”

You can watch the entire speech below:

Pascal has earned the nickname “Everybody’s Daddy” after his back-to-back breakout lead roles in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us. He is adding to that reputation as the “Daddy” of the Marvel Universe as Reed Richards/ Mister Fantastic in The Fantastic Four. His Mandalorian role will be expanded in a feature film version called The Mandalorian & Grogu.

However, right now, Pascal is busy filming The Last of Us Season 2 in Vancouver. As he previously revealed:

“Filming is going amazing.  It’s sort of awe-inspiring the kind of focus and dedication that everyone has going into Season 2.”

Pascal’s next project will be Gladiator 2, which has completed filming. It is scheduled for release on November 22 of this year. Expect The Last of Us Season 2 to arrive next year. Keep in mind, Pascal mostly only contributes his voice to The Mandalorian with stunt performers doing the majority of the work onscreen. It’s possible that The Mandalorian Season 4 could arrive somewhere in the mix. However, The Mandalorian & Grugu hasn’t begun filming yet. Ditto for The Fantastic Four, but that has an official release date of July 25, 2025, so they better get crackin’.

What Pascal project are you most excited about?
