With just one more month to go until the oft-delayed Black Widow finally hits theaters, the teams at Disney and Marvel Studios are doing everything they can to get the hype train rolling for this film again!

Today they released a new teaser trailer that gives fans a better look at some of the big action set pieces from the latest chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While story details are still scarce and not much is known about the film’s plot or the mysterious antagonist, Taskmaster, Marvel’s Black Widow finally gives Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff her own solo film away from the rest of her Avengers teammates.

You can check out the new teaser trailer below!

This movie has been a long time coming, with the character introduced back in 2010’s Iron Man 2 ahead of appearances in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2017), and all four Avengers films (2012-2019). While Black Widow quickly became a fan favorite character, she had still yet to see her own solo film by the time the character met her unfortunate demise in Avengers: Endgame (2019). Thankfully for fans, Marvel already had her film in development, with plans to release it as a prequel to the events of Avengers: Endgame to ensure that her character was able to get her due credit in a film of her own.

The film was originally going to release in May 2020, but much like many films from last year, it was put on the backburner due to the ongoing global pandemic. It was delayed multiple times and finally, Disney settled on releasing it on July 7, 2021, both in theaters and on their Disney+ subscription streaming platform.

Black Widow (2021) is officially the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, although it is actually the third Phase Four entry in the MCU following the WandaVision and The Falcon And The Winter Soldier streaming series. The film will see Scarlett Johansson’s super spy confronting her past to fight for her future. Fans are also hopeful that the film will bring some closure to the character’s story following her death in Avengers: Endgame and give us one last great adventure with her.

In addition to Scarlett Johansson in the titular role, Black Widow also stars Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Rachel Weisz, O-T Fagbenle, William Hurt, and Ray Winstone. We also wouldn’t be too surprised if any other major Marvel favorites popped up briefly considering this is the last hurrah for one of Marvel’s key players.

When Black Widow releases on July 7 it will have been just over two years since we last took a trip to the MCU in a new film (the last film, Spider-Man: Far From Home, released on July 2, 2019). Thankfully, we won’t have as long of a wait after Black Widow as Marvel has Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, The Eternals, and Spider-Man: No Way Home all scheduled to release before the year’s end. We also still have plenty of new Disney+ streaming series to look forward to with Loki starting next week on June 9, 2021, followed later this year by What If…?, Hawkeye, and Ms. Marvel.

Are you excited for one final adventure with Natasha Romanoff? Or maybe about the introduction to her adoptive sister, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, who will likely be taking up the Black Widow mantle in future MCU installments?
