Disney+ has finally confirmed some of the cast members of their new Marvel series Hawkeye!
Now that production has begun filming this week, the House of Mouse has released more insight on who will be joining Clint Barton and Kate Bishop in the next set of Marvel adventures. According to Variety, along with Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld, the series will also star Vera Farmiga, Florence Pugh, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, and Zahn McClarnon.
And not only that, but we also know the characters they will be playing!
In the role of Eleanor Bishop, mother of Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate, is Oscar-nominated actress Vera Farmiga. Farmiga is a familiar face to fans as she played the role of another famous mom – that of Norman Bates’ mother in Bates Motel. In addition, Farmiga has been the face of renowned paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring movie franchise.
Fra Fee (Les Misérables, The Spanish Princess) has been cast to play a character known as “Kazi”. It’s speculated that Kazi is short for Kazimierz Kazimierczak, a villainous mercenary better known to comic book fans as the Clown.
Meanwhile, Tony Dalton (Sense8, Better Call Saul) has been cast as Jack Duquesne/Swordsman. In the comics, Jack was the one who first trained Hawkeye in the art of bladed weapons but was more criminal than hero and later becomes the villain called the Swordsman.
Making her onscreen debut is Alazua Cox who will be playing Maya Lopez. In the comics, Maya is a deaf Native American whose alter ego is called Echo. Her superpower is the ability to perfectly copy another person’s movements thus making her quite an intimidating opponent. Zahn McClarnon (Westworld, Longmire) will play Maya’s father who some say will be an updated version of Willie “Crazy Horse” Lincoln.
Finally, Florence Pugh will be reprising her role as Yelena Belova from the yet to be released movie Black Widow.
