Marvel fans assemble! Get ready to sing your heart out, because Rogers: The Musical is coming to Disney California Adventure Park’s Hyperion Theater on June 30th! That’s right, what started as a joke on the hit Disney+ series Hawkeye is now becoming a reality! And we couldn’t be more excited!
This one-act musical production promises to take audiences on a journey through the origin story of Steve Rogers, from his humble beginnings during World War II to his iconic role as Captain America, leading the Avengers in the Battle of New York and beyond! And the best part? It’s all done in song! Yes, you read that right, Marvel fans! You’ll get to hear some familiar tunes, including “Star Spangled Man” from the film Captain America: The First Avenger and “Save the City” from Hawkeye. (Is it too much to hope for a Nick Fury solo?) In addition, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman have written five brand-new original songs for the show.
If those names sound familiar, it’s because they are two of the biggest names in the musical theater world! Shaiman and Wittman have created music for some of the most popular and recognizable musicals, such as Broadway’s Hairspray and Catch Me If You Can. They have even collaborated with Disney on films like Mary Poppins Returns and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. But that’s not all! They’re also credited for many of the songs in the cancelled-too-soon NBC series Smash (which is coming soon to Broadway). Their work can currently be seen on Broadway in Some Like It Hot.
Rogers: The Musical is sure to be a smash hit (pun intended) and will run approximately 30 minutes from Tuesday through Saturday. You won’t want to miss this super-powered production filled with heart, humor, and heroic acts of courage. So mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details, true believers!
