Kiersey Clemons is confirmed to be returning for The Flash movie in the role of Iris West. Clemons first landed the role waaaaaay back in 2016 and filmed scenes for Justice League to set up her character. However, after Zack Snyder left the film and it was overhauled by Joss Whedon, her scenes were cut. It was recently revealed that those scenes had been restored for Zack Snyder’s Justice League which is releasing on HBO Max on March 18.
After the theatrical version of Justice League faltered at the box office, The Flash movie was put on hold to be overhauled. But it looks as though things are finally on track. Clemons is reported to have finalized her contract. (Her original deal for multiple pictures expired due to all of the delays.) Last month, producer Barbara Muschietti shared a photo indicating that production had begun in London.
Andy Muschietti (It and It: Chapter 2) is directing. Ezra Miller reprises the role of the titular hero. There are confirmed to be two separate Batmen in this picture — Ben Affleck as the established DCEU Bruce Wayne, and Michael Keaton as… a different one. It was recently announced that Sasha Calle had been cast to play Supergirl.
No surprise, Ray Fisher, who has publically lashed out at Warner Bros. and its head of DC movies, Walter Hamada, will not be back as Cyborg, despite the earlier, ongoing buzz that he would co-star.
Reportedly The Flash will be inspired by the comic book story Flashpoint.
Though production began on the picture last month, filming won’t start until April. The Flash already has a release date of November 4, 2022.
In the meantime, Miller and Clemons will be seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the four+ hour director’s cut that will hit HBO Max on Thursday, March 18.
