Just one day before the season finale of The Mandalorian in December, tragedy struck the Star Wars fanbase as one of the stars of the original Star Wars trilogy, Jeremy Bulloch had passed away. Bulloch’s passing was sudden and Disney and Lucasfilm did not have time to include a proper tribute to Bulloch’s legacy in the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian, but now they have gone back and added one in.

For those of you who have been sleeping under a rock for the last two years, The Mandalorian is the first-ever live-action Star Wars television series and stars Pedro Pascal as our titular hero, a bounty hunter trying to make his way in the galaxy. The film is set after the events of the original Star Wars trilogy, but prior to the events of the sequel trilogy. In Season 2 of the series, we saw the return of the fan-favorite original trilogy character Boba Fett, another bounty hunter who wears Mandalorian armor and the first Mandalorian that fans were introduced to in the Star Wars universe.

While Temuera Morrison has taken up the role of Boba Fett for The Mandalorian (having previously played Boba’s “father” Jango Fett in the prequel trilogy), the role was originally played by the late Jeremy Bulloch. Bulloch portrayed Boba Fett in both Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi, where he quickly became one of the franchise’s most popular characters even though he spent most of the time just kind of standing around looking cool. There was just something about the character that fans connected with, and much of that came from Bulloch’s performance.

Following the actor’s unfortunate passing on December 17, 2020, at the age of 75, Disney and Lucasfilm have now added a dedication to his memory to the end credits of The Mandalorian, Season 2 Episode 8 “Chapter 16: The Rescue.” The dedication to the original Boba Fett actor comes at the tail end of the credits, just before the post-credits scene.

It is rather fitting that the dedication to Jeremy Bulloch was placed here, just ahead of this season finale stinger that would go on to announce an all-new spinoff television series that will follow the Boba Fett character. The series, named The Book Of Boba Fett, will follow the galaxy’s most dangerous bounty hunter Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and his companion Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) and is coming from the same team behind The Mandalorian, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. This marks the third spinoff series announced from The Mandalorian, with both Ahsoka and Rangers Of The New Republic also set to spinoff.

Prior to this, Disney and Lucasfilm had posted a tribute to the official Star Wars Twitter account in honor of the late actor’s memory, which you can check out below.

All episodes of The Mandalorian are now streaming on Disney+, while The Book Of Boba Fett is expected to premiere in December 2021
