It is with immense sadness that we report the passing of actor Jeremy Bulloch. He peacefully passed away earlier today due to health complications following living with Parkinson’s disease for several years. Jeremy Bulloch was 75.
Bulloch was best known as having played the most dangerous bounty hunter in the galaxy, the legendary Boba Fett, in the original Star Wars trilogy. He wore the Mandalorian armor in both Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi. While he famously wore the costume, the character’s voice was dubbed over by Jason Wingreen in the original releases of the films. It was later redubbed by actor Temuera Morrison who played the character’s “father” in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Morrison is currently portraying Boba Fett on the Disney+ live-action Star Wars television series, The Mandalorian.
Outside of the armor, Bulloch appeared as an Imperial Officer in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and even had a cameo in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith.
Jeremy Bulloch also had a rather lengthy career outside of Star Wars with over 100 acting credits to his name, including roles in the James Bond films Octopussy and For Your Eyes Only, and BBC television series like Robin Hood and Doctor Who.
A statement from the actor’s website said that Jeremy Bulloch’s final weeks were spent at St. George’s Hospital not far from his home. Bulloch’s wife, Maureen, and two sons, Jamie and Robbie, were there with him in his final days.
Fellow actor Daniel Logan, who played a younger version of the Boba Fett character in 2002’s Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones, confirmed Bulloch’s passing on social media. The two had formed a close relationship with one another, having kinship over their love of the character they shared and spending a considerable amount of time together on the convention circuit. Bulloch retired from convention appearances in 2018, two years prior to his death.
Jeremy was the one to teach me how to be a gentleman and interact with fans at conventions and show up, be present. He was a true English gentleman.
Jeremy Bulloch is survived by his wife Maureen, his three sons, and ten grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed.
