Will The Young Avengers Appear In The MCU?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is clearly setting up for the next generation of Avengers with their upcoming slate of movies and TV shows. And we’re not just talking about Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, and Black Panther. A number of younger heroes such as Spider-Man, the Runaways, and Cloak and Dagger have popped up in Phase Three. However, some very prominent teen heroes that make up a particular fan-favorite team are set to make their MCU debuts in the coming years. Could that mean that the Young Avengers are on their way to a screen near you? The House of Ideas head honcho has recently weighed in.

While speaking to Entertainment Weekly about Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked whether the shows and films on the schedule are currently building towards the formation of the future Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Although seeing as we’re not meant to know just yet, the exec gives a very vague answer:

“As a comic fan, anything in the comics is always our inspiration and our guide point. How those things come together and in what shape, it’s always subverting expectations, it’s always half the fun as meeting them. But, yes, you can certainly see that Phase 4 is introducing all sorts of new types of characters with the potential being endless. Now, all of us at Marvel Studios feel like Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man 1, as new actors and new performers come in and we tell them they’re part of a bigger universe. They just now have to do the work required to build their audience. I’m happy to say everybody that’s here, certainly where I’m sitting now, is doing amazing work and [I] can’t wait to show them the world.”

Despite his incredibly diplomatic answer, evidence is constantly building towards an appearance from the team created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung (but made even more popular by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie). Previously, we’ve seen Cassie Lang, who grows up (pun intended) to be the size-shifting heroine known as Stature, in the Ant-Man movies and Avengers: Endgame. Then in WandaVision, we were introduced to Wanda Maximoff and Vision’s twins Tommy and Billy, who are better known to avid comics readers as Speed and Wiccan. And the future of Phase Four is set to introduce the female Hawkeye Kate Bishop in an upcoming Disney+ series, the reality-hopping America Chavez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and team-member-turned-villain Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Beyond that, there may be some other characters from other MCU projects that could fill out the MCU roster of Young Avengers quite nicely. After all, we’ve already met Sam Wilson’s ally Joaquin Torres in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It’s possible that we could meet Elijah Bradley in this series as well. And a young version of the trickster god Loki may come out of Tom Hiddleston’s Disney+ series and join the team just as he did in the most recent comic series.

Regardless of if this happens or not, it’s certainly fun to speculate. Until we have some concrete confirmation, what do you think about the chances of seeing the Young Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Are you excited about potentially seeing these young heroes take up some familiar mantles and represent Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the years to come? Let us know in the comments.
