It’s Another ‘Day Shift’ For Jamie Foxx, Vampire Slayer, In New Netflix Trailer

Move over, Buffy! Here comes Bud! Netflix has released the first trailer for their latest horror-comedy film Day Shift starring Jamie Fox.

Slaying During The Day Shift

Using his pool cleaning day job as a front, Bud’s (Jamie Foxx) real job is to hunt and kill vampires. Since being kicked out of “the Union,” due to “incidences,” Bud has been slaying vampires as a solo slayer. But when he needs to earn $10,000 to keep his family together, he decides to rejoin the vampire hunters union and is partnered up with the new guy (Dave Franco). Yes, it’s the usual “nerdy new side-kick partnering up with the more experienced colleague” troupe, but how many also have Snoop Dogg playing a boss vampire hunter?

How can you not love a trailer with the words “From the guys who taught John Wick to kick a$$” coming straight at you?

The John Wick Connection

That claim is not exaggerating either! Day Shift is directed by J.J. Perry who coordinated the stunts for the John Wick franchise. Tyler Tice wrote the original script with revisions by Shay Hatten (who wrote the screenplay for John Wick: Chapter 3 and John Wick: Chapter 4). Also co-producing is Chad Stqahelski (who directed all 4 John Wick movies and produced the last 2), Jason Spitz, Yvette Yates Redick, and Shaun Redick (Get Out, BlackKklansman).

Along with Foxx, Franco, and Dogg, Day Shift stars Karla Souza (Home Economics, How to Get Away With Murder), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Ahsoka, The Society), Scott Adkins (The Debt Collector, Doctor Strange), Meagan Good (Shazam, Shazam: Fury of the Gods), Tetiana Gaidar (Resident Evil), and Steve Howey (Shameless, Dead to Me) in supporting roles.

The film looks to have a great pedigree behind it. As Foxx teased during Netflix’s Geeked Week:

“In this movie, I’m in the business of chasing down vampires and getting money for fangs. We’re making something that you’ve never seen before. It’s fun, and the stunts that you’ll see are amazing.”

We won’t have to wait long to see it for ourselves! Day Shift hits Netflix on August 12.
