Vikings star Ray Stevenson is the latest actor cast in Disney+’s Ahsoka. He will play an unnamed villain who is an admiral but is not Grand Admiral Thrawn. This will be Stevenson’s second visit to the galaxy far, far away. He previously voiced the Mandalorian henchman of Darth Maul, Gar Saxon, on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.
Who Is Ahsoka?
In the upcoming series, Rosario Dawson portrays the lead character, Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi who will journey from one end of the universe to the other in search of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Natasha Liu Bordizzo will play the Mandalorian Sabine Wren. Ivanna Sakhno and Mary Elizabeth Winstead have been cast in undisclosed roles. Hayden Christensen reprises his role as Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka’s mentor who later became Darth Vader.
Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, creators of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, are also behind Ahsoka, serving as executive producers. Filoni, who created the character of Ahsoka Tano, will write the series. He also penned the screenplay for The Mandalorian episode “The Jedi” in which Dawson debuted as the live-action version of Ahsoka. Filoni and Favreau co-wrote and Filoni directed the penultimate episode of The Book of Boba Fett, “From the Desert Comes a Stranger,” which also featured Dawson’s Ahsoka.
Most recently, Stevenson appeared in the British miniseries Das Boot. Before that, he portrayed Othere on the History Channel’s Vikings. He also played Blackbeard on STARZ’s Black Sails and Isaak Sirko on Dexter. Stevenson has played two Marvel roles. He was The Punisher/Frank Castle in The Punisher: War Zone (he also voiced the character on the cartoon The Super Hero Squad) and Volstagg in the Thor franchise. He may also be remembered for playing Firefly in G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Marcus in the Divergent series.
He also stars in the upcoming Liam Neeson action-thriller Memory and will return in the role of Big Ray in the sequel Accident Man 2.
