During this year’s DC FanDome event, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema unveiled the first footage from Zachary Levi’s upcoming movie Shazam! Fury of the Gods. This new behind-the-scenes video not only showcases the #Shazamily in action, but it also introduces the film’s villains, the sisters Hespera and Kalypso played by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu.
While this is not a true trailer, it does show what fans can expect and the excitement the cast and director have with this sequel. As the video states, with bigger action sequences and bigger set pieces, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods takes the excitement and action to a whole new level” and we’re here for it!

Returning for the second film are Zachary Levi as Shazam and Asher Angel as Billy Batson; Jack Dylan Grazer and Adam Brody as Freddy Freeman and his superhero alter; Faithe Herman and Meagan Good as Darla Dudley and her superhero alter; Grace Fulton and Michelle Borth as Mary Bromfield and her alter; Ian Chen and Ross Butler as Eugene Choi and his superhero alter, and Jovan Armand and D.J. Cotrona as Pedro Peña and his superhero alter. Also reprising their roles as the parents are Marta Milans as Rosa Vasquez and Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez.
As Levi says in the featurette, “We all establish something very important in the first movie and in Shazam! Fury of the Gods we expand on that.”
While the mid-credits scene in the first Shazam! film teased an alliance between Dr. Sivana (Mark Strong) and Mister Mind, no mention of this villainous team-up was made in the DC FanDome sneak peek. What we did see is the team-up of the goddesses Hespera and Kalypso as they create havoc for the Shazam team. WB released a few images to give fans a better look:
The first Shazam! film, released in 2019, was one of the lowest-grossing movies for DC but was much loved by the critics prompting the studio to greenlight a sequel. Principle filming for Shazam 2 was completed in August 2021 and is now in post-production.
Shazam: Fury of the Gods will soar into theaters on June 2, 2023.
