After nearly three decades, the Jurassic Park franchise looks to be coming to a giganotosaurus-sized conclusion with Jurassic World: Dominion (2022). Universal Studios just dropped the first trailer for the film, which is set to release this summer and bring a gargantuan number of dinosaurs with it! This film is the third film in the Jurassic World series, and the sixth in the larger overall Jurassic Park franchise.
Genetic Power Has Now Been Unleashed
Jurassic World: Dominion (2022) looks to pick up some time well after the events of the last film, 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and –spoiler alert for Fallen Kingdom– sees the modern world facing the consequences of our heroes’ decision to unleash dinosaurs into the wild on the mainland United States rather than let them all die a slow and agonizing death. Obviously, the ramifications of this are massive, and the world may never be the same! Check out the full trailer below!
As you probably just saw in the trailer, Jurassic World: Dominion (2022) is bringing in plenty of familiar faces from throughout the franchise’s history including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World), Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), Laura Dern (Jurassic Park), Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park), Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), BD Wong (Jurassic Park), Omar Sy (Jurassic World), Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), and Isabella Sermon (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom). This is all in addition to several new cast members including DeWanda Wise (Invasion), Mamoudou Athie (Underwater), Dichen Lachman (Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Kristoffer Polaha (Wonder Woman 84), and Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man).
We Need More Teeth
We’re also being treated with a crop of new dinosaurs unlike anything we have ever seen coupled with the long-awaited return of some fan favorites (we’re looking at you Dilophosaurus!). New dinosaurs confirmed by the trailer include the beautifully feathered (and scientifically accurate!) Pyroraptor, the terrifying Atrociraptor, the monstrous Therizinosaurus, and what looks like the gigantic Quetzalcoatlus!
As if all of that wasn’t enough for you, the trailer introduces us to Beta, the offspring of fan-favorite Blue the Velociraptor! They tried with Bumpy on Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous (2020). Could the Jurassic franchise have its own Baby Yoda?
Universal Pictures and director Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World: Dominion is set to release exclusively in theaters on June 10th, 2022. The film is supposedly going to be the final chapter in the Jurassic saga, though we think that only time will tell if this franchise is ready for an extinction-level event just yet though! Life finds a way, after all; especially when the box office numbers are good!
