‘The Boys’ Season 3 Set To Premiere With Three Episodes In June

Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy
Amazon Prime Video

On the latest installment of the Vought News Network, the in-continuity FOX News-like update series on Youtube, Amazon revealed that The Boys Season 3 will begin streaming on Friday, June 3.  And to make things sweeter, Amazon is dropping THREE episodes on that date!  New episodes will be made available each Friday, culminating in the season finale on July 8.  That is eight episodes total, matching the first season, and one more than the second.

You can watch the video below:

It is known that the first new episode is entitled “Payback” and was written by Craig Rosenberg, who has penned many episodes of the series.  Payback is the name of this universe’s pastiche of The Avengers.  One member of Payback from the comics, Stormfront, has already appeared and played a large role in Season 2, as portrayed by Aya Cash.  Another member, Eagle the Archer, their version of Hawkeye, played a supporting role in The Deep’s subplot.

In the new batch, Jensen Ackles will portray Soldier Boy, this show’s version of Captain America, and Laurie Holden (The Walking Dead) will play The Crimson Countess, their version of the Scarlet Witch.  Whereas the comic book Soldier Boy was naïve and easily manipulated, series creator Eric Kripke promises that the show’s version will be “worse than Homelander.”  Kripke previously created Supernatural, on which Ackles starred for an astounding 15 seasons.

The rest of Payback will consist of Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk, Miles Gaston Villanueva as Supersonic (Quicksilver?), Sean Patrick Flannery as Gunpowder, and Kristin Booth and Jack Doolan as Tessa and Tommy, the TNT Twins.  These mostly don’t sound like they’re based on the Avengers or the comic book version of The Boys.

Season 3 will welcome back cast members Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell, Antony Starr as Homelander, Erin Moriarty as Annie January/Starlight, Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve, Jessie T. Usher as A-Train, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Chace Crawford as The Deep, Tomer Capon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir, Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett, and Claudia Doumit as Victoria Neuman.

Tune in to The Boys Season 3 when the first three episodes hit Amazon Prime Video on Friday, June 3!
