Amazon Prime’s The Boys has come out of the gate as one of the raunchiest superhero shows out there. Based on comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys is a realistic view of superheroes in corporate America. Season 1 showed viewers the corruption behind supers and Season 2 blew our minds (literally), and now, Season 3 will include the “Herogasm” storyline.
Showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed this on his social media, with a post saying “Everyone dared me to make this episode. CHALLENGE MET” and a photo of a script for an episode titled “Herogasm.”
So you may be wondering, what exactly is Herogasm? Herogasm is pretty close to what it sounds like. It’s an annual event where Vought’s superheroes engage in a drug-fueled orgy together at a secluded resort.
Those that are more familiar with the comics also may be wondering that since Jensen Ackles has joined the cast of The Boys as Soldier Boy, will he be engaging in their controversial sex scene? Eric Kripke confirmed in a Q&A on Twitter that “No…there isn’t going to be a Soldier Boy, Homelander having sex scene.” Considering how dark the scene is, even for the dark tone of The Boys, it’s not surprising that the scene is being left out.
However, in the same post, Kripke said regarding the “Herogasm” storyline that fans and viewers “have earned it, [they] deserve it, and [they’re] gonna get it.” While we’re still unsure of exactly how and when this will take place in Season 3, it’s safe to say The Boys will likely be pushing the TV-MA rating of the show to its limits in any “Herogasm” scenes we get.
The Boys is currently streaming Seasons 1 and 2 on Amazon Prime. And for anyone that’s wondering how many seasons we might expect to see out of the show, Kripke has said that he plans for the show to have at least 5 seasons.
