Shang-Chi Comes To Terms With His Destiny In New Trailer For ‘Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings’

Lots of things changed last year when the pandemic hit, such as not being able to watch our favorite new movies in theaters. But thankfully, as we slowly get back to normal, the films we missed out on in 2020 are finally becoming available to us. Take Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the latest film in the MCU slate of movies. A new trailer just dropped, further whetting our appetites. Check it out above.

At just a minute long, the trailer doesn’t have much time to give a lot away, but it still manages to hit on some important aspects of the film. It focuses on Shang-Chi’s struggle to alienate himself from his family and his desire for a normal life, but his destiny draws him back in. We also get some action shots featuring the titular Ten Rings, as well as some more of the fight scene on the bus between Shang-Chi and Razor Fist (Florian Munteanu). Though Razor Fist made an appearance in the first two trailers, this latest one shows off a few more details about the bus fight.

There’s also a quick shot of Shang-Chi underwater in which he comes face to face a giant dragon, The Great Protector. This is another shot that’s been recycled from a previous trailer, but it still looks great and gets me even more excited for the giant dragon.

Shang-Chi isn’t the first film in the MCU to touch on the Ten Rings, though. We first heard about them way back in the original Iron Man film. The Ten Rings was a terrorist organization that kidnapped Tony Stark before showing up again in Iron Man 3, supposedly working with Ben Kingsley’s the Mandarin. Now that the Ten Rings features prominently alongside Shang-Chi, I’m interested in seeing just how the terrorist organization adopted its name from the artifact we see in the trailers.

Now that the film is closer to its release, we’re able to piece together some of the plot and a few of the important elements. With Razor Fist seemingly being Shang-Chi’s primary opponent, we can also expect to see him come face to face with the Great Protector, as well as cross paths with Wong and Abomination, as we saw in the previous trailer. However, Marvel likes to throw some curveballs at its fans, so it’s safe to say that what we think we know is only the tip of the iceberg.

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simi Liu, Awkwafina, and Michelle Yeoh will be hitting theaters on September 3 and also be available on Disney+ with Premiere access.
