‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’: Elizabeth Olsen Teases “Bonkers” “Horror Show Vibe”

WandaVision was an unexpected smash.  Sure it was a Marvel Studios project, so it might have seemed like it was destined to be a hit, but it was the first-ever Marvel Studios TV show and many viewers were put off by the first two episodes which were black and white homages to classic sitcoms from the ’50s and ’60s. But those that stuck with the series were properly rewarded as the show wound up having heavy ties to and ramifications on the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But things weren’t tied up with a neat bow at the end. There are still a lot of questions lingering, but luckily, we already know that Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen), now OFFICIALLY the Scarlet Witch, will be levitating over to the feature film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

As is the case with every Marvel project, details about this movie are under wraps. And as is also the case, the stars are not allowed to discuss these projects openly. However, speaking to Glamour Magazine UK, she very briefly mentioned Multiverse of Madness.

“It’s a bonkers movie, they’re definitely going for that horror show vibe.”

More bonkers than WandaVision?  Hmmm…

We kind of already knew that Multiverse of Madness was going to have a “horror show vibe,” as the rumored villain is believed to be Nightmare. Then again, everyone expected Mephisto to pop up on WandaVision and that didn’t happen. So Nightmare may not end up being in this movie after all.

But even just the word “Madness” hints at horror. Add to that, the fact that terror-meister Sam Raimi is helming it, and it seems that fans can expect what may be the scariest MCU flick yet.

What else do we know?  Benedict Cumberbatch will obviously be back in the role of Doctor Stephen Strange.  It has also been confirmed that Chiwetel Ejiofor will be back as Mordo, along with Rachel McAdams as Doctor Christine Palmer and Benedict Wong as Wong, all of whom co-starred in the first Doctor StrangeXochitl Gomez joins the MCU in the role of the multiverse-hopping America Chavez, and it is strongly believed that Raimi’s frequent collaborator Bruce Campbell will make a cameo. The screenplay was written by Jade Halley Bartlett and Michael Waldron.

Check back for further updates as they become available!

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected to arrive in theaters on March 25, 2022.
