Even Katee Sackoff Was Surprised By The Ending Of ‘The Mandalorian’

If, for some reason you have managed to not see the second season of The Mandalorian, there are some big spoilers ahead.  Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

The second season of The Mandalorian features quite a lot of characters from the Star Wars universe. A few, like Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze and Ashoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), made their live-action debuts. Others, like Boba Fett, returned to the canon after their apparent death in the films. But one Jedi returned, to everyone’s surprise, even the other characters in the scene with him.

During a live stream event for Star Wars Explained (which raised over $21,000 for AMFAR), Sackhoff dished with fans while playing Star Wars: Battlefront II. Fans asked her questions about Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica.  The live stream would even be joined by fellow BSG and Star Wars animation vet Sam Whitmer for a while. Among the stories Katee Sackoff told was one about the day the scene when Luke Skywalker arrives on the bridge to pick up Grogu. She relayed they were told that it was Jedi Master Plo Koon who would appear:

“Do you know that that’s who we thought that it was at the end? That’s who we thought it was, was Plo Koon. That’s who we [were] told it was and I’m a very gullible person. When somebody important tells me something, I say ‘okay.'”

Could it really have been Kel Dor Jedi Master? He was one of the on-screen victims of Order 66 in Revenge of the Sith, shot down by his own troops over Cato Neimoidia. But perhaps he could have somehow managed to survive. Koon did have a history with another Jedi who appeared in The Mandalorian, Ashoka Tano.  He found her and brought her to the Jedi Temple. If somehow he had survived, it would have made sense that she would have known. Tano could’ve somehow got word to him about Grogu. He may have known Grogu, from the Jedi Temple… But that isn’t what happened. The actor on set stood in for Luke Skywalker. The dots on his face helped to map a de-aged Mark Hamill’s face.

Wondering where Bo-Katan will turn up next? Could she show up on the Book of Boba Fett? Could she return to her animated roots and turn up on the Bad Batch?  Or will we have to wait until season 3 of the Mandalorian finally arrives to find out what is next for her and her quest for the Darksaber?
