‘Ahsoka’ Set To Hit Disney+ In Late Summer

It’s been a while since The Mandalorian Season 2 ended and Star Wars fans haven’t had any new product to enjoy.  That drought will end in late summer when Ahsoka finally drops.  Disney+ has announced that the series, starring Rosario Dawson in the title role, will arrive on August 23.

Dave Filoni, who co-created the Ahsoka character for The Clone Wars, wrote and created the live-action series.  He also executive produces with Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck.

Dawson debuted as Ahsoka in The Mandalorian Season 2 and reprised the role in The Book of Boba Fett.  In addition, Filoni will be introducing more characters from the animated shows The Clone Wars and Rebels.  (Bo-Katan Kryze, played by Katee Sackhoff has already had a major role in The Mandalorian.)  Ahsoka will introduce live-action versions of Sabine Wren (played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo), Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelson), and Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi).  David Tennant voices the droid Huyang.

Diana Lee Inosanto returns as Morgan Elsbeth, a character that she depicted in The Mandalorian.  New cast members include Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll (in his last role before he unexpectedly passed away just weeks ago), and Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati.

Dawson’s Ahsoka first appeared in The Mandalorian Season Two, when she was drawn to Grogu, a.k.a. “Baby Yoda.”  In fact, it was Ahsoka that revealed the little tyke’s real name.  She later showed up in The Book of Boba Fett after Luke Skywalker had taken in Grogu in order to train him in the ways of The Force.  (That didn’t go according to plan.)

It appears that Ahsoka will follow the lead character’s quest to find Ezra Bridger, who went missing at the end of the Rebels series.

Are you excited to return to the galaxy far, far away?  Once again, Ahsoka will debut on Wednesday, August 23.
