While most of the hype surrounding Deadpool 3 has been the inclusion of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, keep in mind, this is DEADPOOL 3, not Deadpool and Wolverine or anything else. This is a Deadpool movie and fans of the first two can rest assured that at least some of his massive supporting cast will be back. Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams are confirmed to be in the threequel.
In the previous films, Soni portrayed Dopinder, the poor cab driver that got sucked into Deadpool’s exploits, while Uggams depicted Deadpool’s mentor/roommate Blind Al.
In addition to Ryan Reynolds, Jackman, Soni, and Uggams, Deadpool 3 will also star Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen. Macfadyen’s role is undisclosed, but it is believed that Corrin is playing the film’s villain, although who that character is is unknown.
It’s possible that Patrick Stewart will reprise the role of Professor Charles Xavier, but that is unconfirmed.
This will be the first mutant movie set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will also be the first R-rated MCU installment. It’s unclear just how connected it will be. Deadpool was technically part of the 20th Century X-Men franchise but completely ignored the version of Deadpool from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, also portrayed by Reynolds, and completely reinterpreted Colossus, who had appeared in multiple previous films. However, the most recent X-Men cast members made a cameo in Deadpool 2 tying the universe together… or did they.
Filming of Deadpool 3 is set to begin in May with a release date of November 8, 2024, having been pushed back from September 6, 2024 (because Marvel has too much stuff coming out). The November 6 date was originally supposed to be the release for Fantastic Four will now come out on February 14, 2025, so Happy Valentines Day!
