‘Spider-Man: Noir’ Live-Action Series Swinging To Amazon Prime Video

Spider-Man: Noir from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Sony

Spider-Man: Noir, voiced by Nicolas Cage, became a fan-favorite in the Chris Miller and Phil Lord animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.  Now Miller and Lord are executive producing a Spider-Man: Noir live-action series for Amazon Prime Video as part of Sony’s unfolding plan to exploit their catalog of Spider-Man-based properties on television.

Previously announced was another series, Silk: Spider Societyto be developed by The Walking Dead‘s Angela Kang.

Amy Pascal, who has been instrumental in all of Sony’s Spider-Man projects (good and bad), is set to executive produce Spider-Man: Noir.  Oren Uziel will be writing and executive producing.  Uziel scripted the romantic comedy/adventure flick The Lost City, which starred Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe, and Brad Pitt, and proved to be a hit last spring.

There was no announcement as to whether Cage would be involved.  How cool would it be if he starred?  Or if the actor doesn’t want to tackle the physicality of the role, he could simply voice him.  Pedro Pascal has discussed the fact that he doesn’t actually appear in the armor on The Mandalorian.  Most of the time, it is the stunt performers in the suit while he provides his voice.  Similarly, the Doom Patrol characters Negative Man and Robotman are entirely played on screen by stunt performers, with Matt Bomer and Brendan Fraser providing their voices.

What Is Spider-Man: Noir About

Spider-Man: Noir (not its final name) “will follow an older, grizzled superhero in 1930s New York City.”  According to a source, the show is set in its own universe, and the lead character is not Peter Parker.  In the comics, the character is named Peter Benjamin Parker. His exploits take place in their own universe, and the character doesn’t bear much similarity to the modern Peter.

Sony claims to own the rights to 900 Spider-Man-related characters and now seems fired up to really start cashing in.

Stay tuned for updates on Spider-Man: Noir and Silk: Spider Society and any other new projects that emerge.
