CORRECTION: Patty Jenkins Did NOT Walk Away From ‘Wonder Woman 3’; Moving Back To ‘Rogue Squadron’

Patty-Jenkins-Wonder-Woman1

Patty Jenkins is breaking her silence after reports surfaced that Warner Bros. and the newly-formed DC Studios had scrapped Wonder Woman 3.  Initial reports seemed to indicate that the studios had canceled this sequel as part of the massive overhaul that seems to be writing off the established DCEU to make way for a completely fresh take.  However, the next day, reports surfaced (from “insiders” at the studios) that Patty Jenkins had actually walked away from the project after not being able to compromise on a script with the studio heads.

The Real Reason Patty Jenkins Is No Longer Attached To Wonder Woman 3

Jenkins took to Twitter to dismiss that accusation entirely.

“I never walked away.  I was open to considering anything asked of me. It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now.”

James Gunn, one of DC Studios’ new heads, supported Jenkins, tweeting:

“I can attest that all of Peter and my interactions with you were only pleasant and professional.”

Wonder Woman 3 is not alone as it seems that none of the current DC films will wind up as trilogies.  There will not be further sequels after Shazam!: Fury of the Gods or Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.  The recent dud Black Adam most likely won’t even get a second installment, nor will The Flash, but that was expected.  DC has another movie coming out next year, Blue Beetle, but that will also likely be a one-and-done affair.

You can read all of Jenkins’ tweet below:

As she mentioned, she is still working on Rogue Squadron, a Star Wars movie for Disney.  This was a project that was previously announced, however, it was removed from the studio’s release schedule in September.  Considering that Lucasfilm is another studio that is in a bit of turmoil right now, it seemed as if the studio may have quietly canceled it.

However, as you can see in Jenkin’s post, Disney and Lucasfilm had simply postponed it to allow Jenkins to make Wonder Woman 3 before jumping into the Star Wars universe.  Now that Wonder Woman 3 is not happening, Jenkins can devote her attention to Rogue Squadron.

Some have questioned why Jenkins felt the need to post all of this. However, any figure in the public eye with a false narrative forced on them and their reputation absolutely has the right to set the record straight.  It sounds as though her relationship with both Warner Bros. and Disney remains intact.

Are you bummed that there won’t be another Wonder Woman movie in this franchise?  Are you looking forward to Rogue Squadron?
