Agatha Harkness’ Coven of Chaos has picked up another member in SNL alum Sasheer Zamata. Agatha: Coven of Chaos is a spinoff from Disney+’s first Marvel Studios TV program, WandaVision and is being written and executive produced by that show’s creator Jac Schaeffer.
Kathryn Hahn reprises her role as the antagonist of WandaVision, an ancient witch (and dog murderer) named Agatha Harkness. Emma Caulfield Ford, who played “Dottie”/Sarah Proctor in WandaVision is also expected to appear in Coven of Chaos. It was just announced that Aubrey Plaza had been cast in what is believed to be a villain role. Plaza and Hahn previously worked together on the sitcom Parks and Recreation.
The cast also includes Heartstopper‘s Joe Locke, who many are speculating will portray Billy Kaplan/Wiccan, and Ali Ahn (Raising Dion), and Maria Dizzia (The Good Nurse), who are supposedly playing witches. (Ahn is also a co-worker of Plaza’s, as they both contribute voices to the FX cartoon Little Demon.)
There is buzz that Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff will make an appearance, even though she appeared to die at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Zamata gained notice for her four-year tenure on Saturday Night Live. She recently starred for two seasons on Hulu’s Woke and can currently be seen on the ABC sitcom Home Economics. She recently filmed a one-hour standup special that will be released in 2023 and she can be heard on the podcast Best Friends with her actual best friend Nicole Byer.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos is just one of two upcoming WandaVision spinoffs. Paul Bettany will return in Vision Quest. Schaeffer is also overseeing that series, which opened its writers room this week.
