‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Announces Home Media Releases With This Meme Shot

Fans were hoping to see Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire recreate that famous meme based on the old ’60s Spider-Man cartoon in Spider-Man: No Way Home. But even in a movie as meta and filled with fan service as this, it seems that director Jon Watts decided that THAT would have just been too far over the line. Luckily, the actors were game and appear to have recreated the image on the set in between filming. Now it has been released to promote the upcoming home video release of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Sony Pictures will release the #1 movie of last year on digital media on March 22. Vudu is already reporting that this is the best-selling presale in that service’s history. It will be released on physical media in the U.S., on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD on April 12. Fans in the U.K. (Holland’s native land) are in luck. They will get the physical releases on April 4.

The digital release is a VOD. It will be available to stream within the next six months, but will only be on STARZ. Keep in mind, this is a Sony movie, not a Disney/Marvel Studios project, so it won’t be going to Disney+.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now the third-highest-grossing domestic theatrical movie of all time having recently surpassed Avatar. It’s still sitting at #3 on the charts and as of last weekend, its total was $771.7M. This makes this picture hands-down the best-performing of the pandemic era.

Not only is this a financial and popular hit, but critics love it as well. Its Rotten Tomatoes score is 93%. Despite that, it was only nominated for a few technical Academy Awards. The backlash was so severe that the Academy announced plans to announce a fan-voted “Popular Film” during the ceremony, with all eyes on No Way Home.

In addition to the three Peters, No Way Home starred Zendaya as Michelle “M.J.” Jones (or is it Watson, now?), Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Jamie Foxx as Electro, Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin, Alfred Molina as Dr. Otto Octavius, Benedict Wong as Wong, Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson, with cameos by Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock.
