‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’: Tobey Maguire And Andrew Garfield Snuck Into Screenings To Experience Audience Reactions

***It’s been out for a month.  And we knew it was gonna happen like a year before the movie even came out.  Deal with it.***

I gotta say, I haven’t watched a movie that garnered as much audience reaction as that of Spider-Man: No Way Home since Avengers: Endgame.  The crowd laughed, cheered, clapped, and cried every time it was called for.  And of course, the biggest reactions were to the appearances of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles as Peter Parker/Spider-Man from their own movie franchises.

Perhaps Peter 2 and Peter 3 knew that was going to happen as the duo snuck into screenings of the movie on opening out just to revel in the emotional outpouring!

As Garfield told Entertainment Tonight:

“I still can’t believe it happened.  I snuck into a theater on opening night and just watched with my baseball cap on and my mask.

“I was also with Tobey, me and Tobey snuck into a theater together and no one knew we were there. It was just a really beautiful thing to share together. And to find a brotherhood with Tobey as well, and with Tom [Holland], and the fact that we do share a very unique experience.”

Andrew Garfield had the least spectacular run as Marvel’s flagship Webhead.  He was slated to star in a trilogy, as Maguire had, but audiences reacted poorly to his two films, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.  Sony canceled plans for a third film with Garfield in the webbed suit and instead struck a deal with Marvel Studios/Disney to relaunch the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a new actor, Tom Holland, in the role.  And Holland’s take has been eagerly embraced by fans.

BUT, Garfield’s performance in No Way Home has fans chomping at the bit to see him return to properly close out his sequence of movies.  It turns out that, after all, he was pretty good in the role.  He was just showcased in movies that didn’t connect.  (That whole running storyline about his parents was a snooze!)

Garfield is also experiencing a bit of a career resurgence, after garnering praise for his role as Jonathan Larsen in the Netflix biopic tick… tick… BOOM!.  Many predict he will receive a Best Actor nomination for this year’s Oscars.

And as the internet has declared, he should receive a Best Actor nomination for all those times he appeared on talk shows and pretended he wasn’t in No Way Home.

If you haven’t seen Spider-Man: No Way Home… WHY THE HELL DID YOU READ THIS?!  But if you want to see it again, it’s now playing in cineplexes everywhere (except in China)!
