Brave New World‘s Joseph Morgan and Claws vet Franka Potente have been added to the cast of Titans Season 4 as series regulars. Morgan will portray Sebastian Blood a.k.a. Brother Blood, a major villain from the early days of Marv Wolfman/George Perez’s classic run of the New Teen Titans, and has popped up to challenge the team often over the years. Potente will portray his right hand, May Bennett/Mother Mayhem.
In addition, Lisa Ambalavanar has been cast in the recurring role of Jinx, a sorceress who first appeared as a member of the Fearsome Five and has since become a foe of Wonder Woman.
Titans‘ take on Brother Blood is described as “an introvert with a strong intelligence and a hidden darker nature.” Mother Mayhem is described as “a natural leader who always carries the threat of violence with her, a predator in human form with an unfettered belief in her mission in the world.” The show’s version of Jinx will be “a quick-witted criminal loner and a master of dark magic with a joy for manipulating others and creating chaos while doing it.”
Kevin Alejandro portrayed Sebastian/Brother Blood in Season 2 of Arrow. He later popped up again on Season 4. Brother Blood was also depicted in the Teen Titans cartoon. He was voiced by John DiMaggio.
In the comics, Jinx is Indian. She was also a recurring character on the Teen Titans cartoon but was basically whitewashed. Lauren Tom provided her voice for most of the episodes, but Tara Strong voiced her in the series finale.
Morgan most recently appeared as CJack60 on Apple TV+’s Brave New World. He may be best known for playing Klaus Mikaelson on The Vampire Diaries and its spinoff The Originals. He portrayed Young Jed on Animal Kingdom and he starred in the pilot for a potential series based on Gone Baby Gone which was not picked up to series.
Potente may be best known for playing Lola in the cult classic ’90s action thriller Run Lola Run. She may also be recognized for playing Marie in the Bourne film franchise. She has appeared in multiple TV shows including The Shield, House, Psych, and American Horror Story. She had more substantial roles on The Bridge, Taboo, and most recently, she played Zlata on Claws.
Since 2018, Ambalavanar has portrayed Mia on the British teen drama The A List. Concurrently, she played Alia Hanif on another British program, The Doctors.
The first three seasons of Titans are now available to stream on HBO Max. The fourth season was just announced at DC Fandome in October, so it isn’t clear when it will be released. Check back for updates as they arrive!
