‘Doom Patrol’ And ‘Titans’ Get Renewed For Fourth Seasons On HBO Max

The Doom Patrol
Warner Bros.

Good news for DC TV fans!  As part of Warner Brothers’ massive DC FanDome virtual event, it was announced that both Doom Patrol and Titans have been renewed for fourth seasons. Both shows originated on the DC Universe streaming service but were ported over to HBO Max when it launched and Warner Bros. converted DC Universe to a digital comics-only app.

While Doom Patrol was envisioned as a spin-off from Titans— and most of the cast originated their roles on the latter– the two shows are now considered to take place on different Earths in the multiverse. (This is appropriate, as the Doom Patrol comic book was mostly published by DC subsidiary imprint, Vertigo, and was not considered DCU canon.)

In addition to announcing that Doom Patrol had been renewed, Warner Bros./DC/HBO Max released a midseason trailer for the remaining episodes of the current installment:

Doom Patrol was developed for television by Supernatural‘s Jeremy Carver. It stars Diane Guerrero as Jane, April Bowlby as Rita Farr, Matt Bomer and Matthew Zuk as Larry Trainor, Brendan Fraser and Riley Shanahan as Cliff Steele, Timothy Dalton as The Chief/Niles Caulder, Joivan Wade as Vic Stone, and Skye Roberts as Kay Challis.  Season 3 introduced Michelle Gomez as the villain Madame Rouge.

Six episodes have been released of the third season so far.  There will be ten total.

Titans Season 3
Warner Bros.

Titans was the first original series offered by DC Universe and was that service’s flagship series, so fans were excited when it was announced that HBO Max would carry it on after DCU’s demise.

Based on DC Comics’ Teen Titans, the show follows former sidekicks and other young heroes as they attempt to form identities of their own and a surrogate family in the process.

The series stars Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson/Nightwing, Anna Diop as Kory Anders/Starfire, Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth/Raven, Ryan Potter as Gar Logan/Beast Boy, Curran Walters as Jason Todd/Red Hood, Conor Leslie as Donna Troy/Wonder Girl, Minka Kelly as Dawn Granger/Dove, Alan Ritchson as Hank Hall/Hawk, and Joshua Orpin as Superboy.  Season 3 introduced Savannah Welch as Barbara Gordon, Vincent Kartheiser as Jonathan Crane (formerly the Scarecrow), Damaris Lewis as Komand’r/Blackfire, and Jay Lycurgo as Tim Drake.

There are 13 episodes in the third season and the last will be released on October 21.  You can watch a clip from it below:

No details about either new season were revealed, but that’s probably because the writers haven’t started working on them yet. New episodes most likely won’t be released until next year.

Are you excited that Doom Patrol and Titans are getting fourth seasons?
