Early on in Season 3 of Titans, the team lost one of its key players with the sudden death of Alan Ritchson’s Hank Hall, better known to comic book fans as Hawk. On the series, Hawk was one of the Titans’ founding members, and his relationship with his partner Dove was instrumental in the assemblage of the team. Unfortunately for Hawk, he found himself with a bomb strapped to his chest that ended up exploding at the last second as his teammates tried to get it off of him. It was later revealed that their attempted removal of the bomb is what ended up detonating it, leaving Hawk’s partner Dove wracked with guilt over his death. The murder of Hawk was a big one for the series, catapulting their old-friend-turned-enemy The Red Hood (who is the former second Robin, Jason Todd) to a new level of bad-guy.

In a recent interview with EW, Alan Ritchson spoke about his time on the show and leaving the role of Hawk behind him as well as if he would be willing to return to the series at some point. Ritchson said:

I spoke with the producers and writers before leaving, and was just very humbled by how gracious they were and how open-ended they left the conversation. ‘Would you ever come back if we wanted to have you back?’ And I said, ‘Absolutely. I don’t know if they’ll ever feel like servicing Hank and that Hawk-Dove storyline again, but I do love where we left it. I think it’s really beautiful.

This journey that Hawk has on mirrored my own life in such an eerie way. His ups and his downs really, I don’t know who was channeling who, but it just seemed to really parallel where I’ve been in my journey, and the fact that he sort of crossed over, and he’s made peace with that, and he’s now living in a world where he has committed to continuing to help people and accept that.

Titans Season 3 saw the team departing San Francisco and heading to Nightwing’s old stomping grounds in Gotham City where they met up with several of his old partners in crime fighting. Unfortunately, one of them, former Robin (and Titan) Jason Todd, had taken up the mantle of The Red Hood and gone on a crime spree all his own while dishing out his own brand of justice. The official Titans Season 3 synopsis reads:

Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find where they belong. In season three, circumstances draw our heroes to Gotham City, where they will reunite with old friends and face new threats.

Titans stars Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, Ryan Potter, Minka Kelly, (formerly) Alan Ritchson, Joshua Orpin, Chelsea Zhang, Curran Walters, and Iain Glen. Seasons One through Three are currently available for streaming on HBO Max. As announced at Warner Bros recent DC Fandome event, Titans is officially set to return for Season 4; although when that will actually be happening is still unclear.
