Kevin Feige Says Charlie Cox Will Be The MCU’s Daredevil

Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil

Fans of Netflix’s Daredevil and its star Charlie Cox have a reason to rejoice!  Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios has declared that should the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduce the Man Without Fear, Cox will be the actor portraying him.  There is already speculation that Cox will pop up in Spider-Man: No Way Home along with rampant speculation that Vincent D’Ononfrio will reprise the role of Kingpin/Wilson Fisk in Hawkeye.  The fact that Feige is even commenting on any Daredevil news at this time… 10 days before the release of No Way Home seems to further fuel the fire of these rumors.

Feige’s exact quote was:

“If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil. Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen.”

Daredevil was among the Netflix Marvel shows, which referenced the films, but with Marvel Studios (who make the movies) and Marvel Television/Entertainment (who made the shows prior to the Disney+ era) being separate entities, the shows were never *really* part of the MCU.  Even so, the shows performed well for Netflix… until Iron Fist was widely panned by viewers and critics, and The Defenders also got kind of dismissed.

But Daredevil was a consistent crowd pleaser with fans really embracing the cast.  (Shout out to Elden Henson who played Foggy Nelson!)  And the last episode of Hawkeye implied that Maya Lopez’s “uncle” could very well be Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin.

And we know that Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and his friends will be in legal trouble in No Way Home, meaning that he could need a lawyer… like Matt Murdock.  Or She-Hulk… just sayin’.  In fact, it’s very possible that Cox won’t return as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in No Way Home, but She-Hulk.

This also begs the question of whether these will be the same versions of Daredevil and Kingpin.  The MCU has a vast appeal to everyone from kids to the elderly.  The Netflix shows do NOT appeal to the same audience.  They are loaded with profanity, nudity/sex, drug use, graphic violence/gore, and more.  Plus, the Netflix shows are owned by Netflix, so they won’t be coming over to Disney+ anyway, nor should kids be watching them.

One major theory among fans right now is that the MCU may reintroduce these actors in these same roles, but their stories will be all new and the Netflix shows won’t be in continuity.

What do you think?  Are you hoping to see Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio return as Daredevil and the Kingpin in the MCU?  And in what projects would you like to see them?
