Reportedly, the Disney+ live-action Ahsoka TV series is looking to cast Sabine Wren in a major role opposite the show’s star Rosario Dawson. This news was somewhat buried in a Hollywood Reporter article about the Disney+ animated series What If…?.
“[Roasrio] Dawson is leading a live-action Ahsoka spinoff for Disney+, with sources saying Lucasfilm is looking for an actress to star opposite Dawson as Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren.”
Rumor has it, Ahsoka will also introduce live-action versions of Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridgers. In Star Wars Rebels, Ezra went missing and Ahsoka and Sabine Wren vowed to go on a quest to find him.
There has already been one connection to Sabine Wren in the live-action Star Wars universe, as she at one time possessed the Dark Sabre, which is now in the hands of Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) on The Mandalorian.
It should also be pointed out that Sabine is a Mandalorian, so there could be additional connections made to Mando (Pedro Pascal) in the future. Some eagle-eyed observers have also noted that some images from Season 3 show graffiti in the background, something that Sabine is known for.
Season 2 of The Mandalorian already introduced a live-action version of Bo-Katan Kryze, played by Katee Sackhoff, who voiced the character on Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Unfortunately, some fans were disappointed with Dawson’s casting as Ahsoka instead of her original voice actor, Ashley Eckstein.
In animation, Sabine Wren was voiced by Tiya Sircar.
The third season of The Mandalorian is not expected to arrive on Disney+ until next year. Presumably, Ahsoka will not hit until after that. In addition, Disney is set to deliver The Book of Boba Fett starring Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett and Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand.
