Legendary host and judge Jameela Jamil has been cast on Disney+’s Marvel series She-Hulk, as the villain Titania, a character who was first introduced in the 1984-85 maxiseries Secret Wars. She joins Tatiana Maslany, who will portray the titular hero, as well as Mark Ruffalo who returns in the role of The Hulk, and Tim Roth, who portrayed Emil Blonsky/The Abomination in Marvel’s 2008 film The Incredible Hulk. Ginger Gonzaga and Renée Elise Goldsberry are also part of the cast.
Jessica Gao (Rick and Morty) serves as head writer for She-Hulk. Kat Coiro (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia) and Anu Valia (Awkwafina is Nora From Queens) are slated to direct.
She-Hulk is the cousin of The Hulk who receives similar powers thanks to an emergency blood transfusion, but she retains her normal personality in “Hulk” mode, similar to “Professor Hulk” in Avengers: Endgame.
Jamil first gained notice as a radio presenter in Great Britain. After relocating to the United States in 2016, she became known for portraying Tahani Al-Jamil on the fantasy sitcom The Good Place. Since then, she has hosted the game show The Misery Index, which is going into its third season, and she can currently be seen as the host and judge on HBO Max’s ballroom competition series Legendary, now in its second season. In addition, she has branched out into voice acting, with roles on Crossing Swords, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, and DuckTales, as well as one-off gigs on Robot Chicken, Harley Quinn, American Dad!, Animaniacs, and Rugrats.
Goldsberry is allegedly playing a character named “Amelia” but based on some on-set paparazzi photos, there is some credence to the speculation that she might actually be portraying the comic book character Patsy Walker/Hellcat.
She-Hulk has been described as a half-hour legal comedy, and unlike WandaVision, this series was conceived as ongoing, so there will likely be additional seasons after this one.
