Marvel Comics fans will be very excited to hear that The Spirit Of Vengeance himself, Ghost Rider, is revving his engines and heading straight for the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
THS recently reported exclusive confirmation that Johnny Blaze (not to be confused with The Human Torch Johnny Storm) is making his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! To make things even sweeter, he’s going to be coming much sooner than fans might expect!
Recent concept art from Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness show the classic Ghost Rider character appearing. According to THS, this debut appearance will be a brief cameo that introduces the character but not much more than that.
The Doctor Strange sequel is set to delve into the massive Marvel Multiverse and is said to feature a number of horror elements. When you factor in that horror movie veteran Sam Raimi is stepping behind the camera to direct, that shouldn’t come as too big of a surprise!
Ghost Rider has been previously adapted for live-action a few times before, including two non-MCU films from Sony starring Nicolas Cage as the Johnny Blaze. The Ghost Rider also appeared in Marvel’s television series Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., where Gabriel Luna portrayed a later version of the Ghost Rider character, Robbie Reyes. As the Sony films were not part of the MCU and Marvel Studios has recently marked Agents to be considered “non-canon,” the Ghost Rider role is set to be recast yet again. It has been said that the MCU will feature the original Johnny Blaze version of the character.
Although Marvel owns all rights to Ghost Rider, it looks as though they are planning on using him in a supporting role in other heroes films rather than his own standalone title; treating him similarly to The Hulk who has popped up all over the MCU but hasn’t had his own film since 2008.
