The weekend is here and with it comes much rejoicing! To ring in the new month, writer-director James Gunn has dropped another all-new trailer for his upcoming DC Comics adaptation for Warner Bros., The Suicide Squad.
Gunn posted the trailer on his Twitter account yesterday on April 1st, leading many to speculate that it was a prank. Thankfully for fans, it was anything but! The new trailer was comprised largely of new footage we haven’t seen before and gives viewers a quick taste of our villainous heroes on the Squad.

It’s kind of amazing just how much new footage we are getting in this second trailer, especially when you consider that the first trailer also only dropped a few days ago! Gunn himself acknowledged this and commented on how much it bothers him when trailers look too similar to one another, saying:
I did not want to make two trailers exactly the same. That bugs me when they do that. If we’re going to the trouble of releasing TWO, I wanted to give fans a reason to watch both of them, focusing on different aspects of our film.
James Gunn and Warner Bro.’s The Suicide Squad is set to premiere on August 6, 2021, both in theaters and on the HBO Max subscription streaming service.
