Updated 2/7: The rumor that Chole Bennet was in talks to resume the role of Quake for Secret Invasion was debunked by Chloe herself on Twitter. But as was pointed out in this ScreenRant article, there have been other instances of actors denying their involvement with big projects like these, such as Tatiana Maslany being in She-Hulk, which the rumors later turn out to be true, so whether Chloe is being truthful still remains to be seen.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD recently finished its seven-season run on ABC. But despite being a spin-off of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it always felt like the bastard child of the MCU. While events that transpired in the MCU, such as the fall of SHIELD in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, would affect Agents of SHIELD, whatever happened on the show never seemed to ripple out into the MCU as a whole. But that may be changing with a new announcement about an Agents of SHIELD principal cast member and a recently announced Disney+ show.

Back in December, Disney held a four-hour investor call during which they announced no fewer than a dozen upcoming Marvel-related projects (as well as a number of other Disney-centric projects). One of those projects was a Disney+ show based on the comic book story Secret Invasion. With that said, GiantFreakinRobot.com has reported that Chloe Bennet, best known as Daisy Johnson aka Quake on Agents of SHIELD, is in consideration to appear on that series.

Bennet started on Agents of SHIELD as Skye, a white-hat hacker with a mysterious past that even she could not remember. Over time, it was revealed that her real name was Daisy Johnson, and she is descended from an alien race known as the Inhumans. After being exposed to the Terrigen Mist, she developed powers that allow her to control vibrational forces around her and adopted the code name Quake.

In the comic books, Johnson/Quake is a high-ranking SHIELD officer and appears in a number of storylines, most notably Secret Invasion. While not much is known about the Disney+ adaptation of the story, the comic book version centers on the Skrulls, a shape-shifting alien race who came to Earth disguised as important superheroes and government officers in order to take over the planet. The invasion is discovered and though it is ultimately stopped, it had some damaging repercussions on the Marvel Comics Universe (such as Norma Osborne, the Spider-Man villain known as Green Goblin, taking over as the director of SHIELD).

It would seem that Bennet’s inclusion in the upcoming Secret Invasion series is a way that Marvel Studios will bridge Agents of SHIELD with the rest of the MCU (which, if you ask me, is about time). Not only does this open up the MCU to more content that was introduced by Agents of SHIELD, such as Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider and Deathlok (be sure to check out our exclusive interview with Deathlok actor, J. August Richards), but it also gives them the opportunity to use the great characters that supported Agents of SHIELD for seven seasons.
