For those that don’t know, Secret Invasion was a Marvel Comic crossover event series from 2008. In it, we discover that the Skrulls, a race of shapeshifters seen in the MCU in Captain Marvel and Spiderman: Far from Home, have taken the place of heroes and villains alike. The new streaming series will star Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull named Talos.

The two appeared together in 2019’s Captain Marvel. And in Spiderman: Far From Home, Talos stood in for Fury while Fury was off-world for some yet unknown mission.

The Skrulls, in the comics, usually act as villains. They use their shapeshifting abilities to sow confusion. The news of this series would indicate that, like people, Skrulls also have a wide range of ethical positions.

Disney’s Investor Day Livestream took fans by surprise by the sheer volume of news coming out. It was Christmas come early for Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney fans. The series was one of many high profile projects coming from the studio.
