With Disney+’s WandaVision arriving in a week, the hype machine is revving up and Elizabeth Olsen presented the first clip from the series during her virtual appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Olsen beamed her interview from London, where she is under COVID-19 lockdown. But when that quarantine lifts, she will resume filming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
As is the norm, Olsen couldn’t reveal much about WandaVision, but she did confirm something that has become clear as more and more clues about the show have surfaced — that the first episodes will channel TV shows from the ’50s through the ’00s, and Olsen did state that this was for a reason and not just a clever gimmick. As was previously revealed, the ’50s episode is a tribute to the likes of The Dick Van Dyke Show and Olsen confirms it was filled in front of a live studio audience “filled with NDAs [non-disclosure agreements].”
The clip shown is from what is presumably the show’s second episode, which Olsen says was a tribute to Bewitched, which aired in the ’60s. The video below features Olsen’s entire interview, but the black and white clip from WandaVision begins at 4:25. Check it out!
As we recently learned, WandaVision will feature a different theme song for each episode, in the style of the sitcoms of the different eras, written by Academy Award and Grammy-winning composers Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Frozen‘s “Let It Go,” Coco‘s “Remember Me”).
Joining Wanda and Vision on their bizarre journey through the years are “nosy neighbor” Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), who was last seen as a child in Captain Marvel. The series will also include Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis from the first two Thor movies, and Randall Park as FBI agent Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man and the Wasp.
WandaVision arrives on Disney+ on Friday, January 15.
