New ‘WandaVision’ Trailer Reveals A Theme Song And It’s “A Gas!”

“We don’t have a song,” Wanda laments at the beginning of the latest trailer for WandaVision. But that’s about to change. The new clip introduces a theme song for the upcoming Disney+ Marvel series, which seems like a throwback to the likes of I Love Lucy and Bewitched. And that’s fitting, seeing as how it appears that WandaVision will serve as an homage to sitcoms past.

We’ve seen footage and photos of Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen), Vision (Paul Bettany), as well as their “nosy neighbor” Agnes (Kathryn Hahn), and the mysterious Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) in the trappings of familiar sitcoms from the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s.

You can check out the new trailer, including the theme song, below:

This is actually just one of a few theme songs that will be featured.  It’s likely that there will different theme songs to fit the show’s various time settings. It’s even possible that each of the nine episodes will have a different theme song.

These were all penned by frequent Disney songwriters, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. The married duo won two Grammys for Frozen including for the single “Let It Go” and one for “Remember Me” from Coco. They also won the Academy Award for both of those songs.

Robert Lopez stated:

“WandaVision is such a cool, strange, one-of-a-kind project.  When the director, Matt Shakman—an old friend from my college days—pitched it to us, we didn’t have to think about it. We loved the bright feeling of American sitcoms mixed with the deep sense of unease the story had, and it was a really inviting challenge to help set that tone.”

Kristen Anderson-Lopez added:

“I grew up in the ’80s watching shows from every decade on the networks all day long. Episodes from I Love Lucy, Brady Bunch, and Family Ties shaped who I am and how I move through the world. So this project was a dream come true.”

The first episode of WandaVision will materialize on Disney+ on January 15. As stated, there will be nine episodes and they will be released weekly.
