2023 got off to a terrible start when news emerged that Marvel star Jeremy Renner was critically injured in a snow plow accident on his farm in Washoe County, NV. The actor underwent surgery for “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.”
He has since awoken and shared his status on Instagram.

Jeremy Renner debuted as Hawkeye/Clint Barton in Thor in 2011, returned in Avengers the following year, and has been a regular fixture in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since, culminating in his starring in his own Hawkeye series on Disney+ in 2021.
Some Details About The Accident
Following New Year’s festivities on Renner’s property, a family member was driving one of his cars and got stuck in the snow in his driveway, following a blizzard that left 10,000 Washoe County residents without power. Renner got into his PistenBully snowplow to free the car, but after getting off the snowplow to talk to the relative, the snowplow ran over him, injuring his legs and chest. The PistenBully is said to weigh at least 14,330 pounds.
Neighbors attempted to come to his aid before Renner, an honorary deputy in Washoe County, was ultimately helicoptered to a hospital.
During a live news conference, Sheriff Darin Balaam stated:
“After successfully towing his personal vehicle from its stuck location, Mr. Renner got out of his PistenBully to speak with his family member. At this point, it is observed that the PistenBully started to roll. In an effort to stop the rolling PistenBully, Mr. Renner attempts to get back into the driver seat of the PistenBully. Based on our investigation, it’s at this point that Mr. Renner is run over by the PistenBully.
“This investigation is ongoing; however, we do not suspect any foul play. We believe it was a tragic accident.”
At this time, Renner remains in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
The actor’s publicist, Sam Mast, issued a statement reading:
“Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him. They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
