Zachary Levi Wants Fans To Give Peter Safran And James Gunn A “F*****G Break”

Following a virtual bloodbath at Warner Bros. concerning the DC slate of TV shows and movies, including the axing of Wonder Woman 3 and the announcement that the Superman franchise is being reinvented without Henry Cavill, at least one current DC star is standing by new leaders Peter Safran and James Gunn.

Zachary Levi will star in March’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods and although it’s likely that this will be his last outing in the red tights, he is standing by WB, Safran, and Gunn.

In an Instagram post, Levi stated:

“Up to this point, there have been quite a few DC films that may have made some fans very happy, but they’re not tapping into the larger audience.  Marvel was very successful in doing that — bringing in as many people to the table, as many people that could be satiated and brought joy and all that stuff.

“If you’re out there, and you really liked what happened before, you can do that — that’s fine. But recognize there’s a lot of people that didn’t like those things, and we should always be trying to, I think, tap into as much audience as possible, making as many people as happy as possible. That’s what we’re in entertainment for, and I think that’s what Peter and James are really trying to do, and it’s not an easy position. They got handed all of these things that were already in a lot of conflict. So guys, just fucking give them a break. Take it easy. Take a breath.”

So far, this is the longest statement a DC star has made in regard to all of these sweeping changes. And Zachary Levi seems to grasp quite well just what needs to be done with the DC Universe, a franchise that the general public has clearly lost interest in, as evidenced by the poor performance of Black Adam, which starred possibly the biggest name in Hollywood, Dwayne Johnson.

Unfortunately, Black Adam was likely leading to a confrontation between Johnson and Levi which fans will likely not ever get a chance to see.

Or will they?  WB, DC Studios, Safran, and Gunn have NEVER come right out and said that they are scrapping all of the current DC Universe and rebooting it. That’s just what we’ve all assumed.  So there may still be hope for Levi’s Shazam.

Would you like to see more of this franchise?  Or should DC scrap these plans as well?

Shazam! Fury of the Gods will hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
