Nicolas Cage, known for taking on strange roles, the most recent being a flanderized version of himself in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, has expressed interest in working with a unique group of co-stars: The Muppets. During an interview with TwitterMovies, Cage responded to a tweet where the user said they wanted to see a remake of his 1996 action/adventure film The Rock but with Muppets.
It’s Time To Light The Lights
“I would love to be in a Muppet Movie,” Cage stated after reading the tweet. Cage is known to take on odd roles, throwing his whole self into each one. From Disney’s National Treasure to movies like Wicker Man and Pig, Cage has acted in several roles covering a variety of subject matter. From vampires to cults, to treasure, and, of course, aliens, Cage has almost done it all at this point. The next step for Cage after a movie like The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent might just be a Muppet movie.
While the Muppets have not yet responded to Cage’s desire to work with them, there has been a higher amount of production of Muppet-related properties in the past few years. With movies like The Muppets Haunted Mansion releasing in 202, and a new TV show, The Muppets Mayhem, starting production, a Muppet-Cage collaboration may not be that far off.
Although, Kermit the Frog may want to watch out if the Muppets and Cage collaborate. While Cage said he and Kermit could be “best friends,” he admitted that “I’ve always had a crush on Miss Piggy.” Fans of the Muppets may remember that the couple split in 2015 and as of October 2021, they have not gotten back together.
Who knows what might happen if Nicolas Cage works together with the Muppets? All we can say is that we’d love to see what could happen.
