Iconic Comedian Gilbert Gottfried Dead at 67

Gilbert Gottfried, an iconic comedian known for many voice roles including Iago in Disney’s Aladdin and the Aflac Duck, has passed away at age 67. Gottfried was famous for his voice and his lewd sense of humor.

The Gottfried Family announced the comedian’s passing via Twitter stating:

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness. In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor. 

In a statement to People Magazine, Gilbert Gottfried’s publicist revealed that the cause of death for Gottfried involved a long fight with a heart condition and related complications. Gottfried had a successful decades long career and lent his voice to many iconic roles aimed at both adults and children. From Digit in PBS’s Cyberchase to roles in SpongeBob Squarepants, Teen Titans Go, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Family Guy, and more, it’s hard to miss the influence of Gottfried’s voice. 

Gottfried is survived by his wife, Dara Kravitz, and two children, Lily and Max.
