Disney’s ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Trailer Introduces New Worlds And New Threats

The next big Disney+ thing is coming! The trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi dropped during Disney’s annual shareholders’ meeting and based just on this minute+ clip, it certainly seems that longtime fans will like this better than the lackluster Book of Boba Fett.

Joby Harold penned this project, which this trailer labels as a six-episode miniseries, so there will only be one season. Deborah Chow, who helmed the Mandalorian episodes “The Sin” and “The Reckoning,” directed every episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

This series is set 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. As Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan admits in this trailer, “The fight is done. We lost.” We find Kenobi living as a hermit on Tatooine, watching over Luke Skywalker, who is still a little boy, wearing goggles similar to those worn by Anakin in The Phantom Menace and pretending to fly a pod racer.

Now that we’ve cleaned all the sand out of our shoes from The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, thankfully this trailer reveals that Kenobi will travel to some OTHER planets with less sand. And with actual cities with skyscrapers!

This series is bringing in some other new elements from the Star Wars world, including Sith Inquisitors. In particular, it looks as though the character played by Moses Ingram, Reva, will be a major villain in this show. Overall, it looks as though there will be a few new female antagonists.

Also joining the cast in new roles are Rupert Friend as the Grand Inquisitor (who is glimpsed in the trailer), Sung Kang as Fifth Brother, Indira Varma as an Imperial Officer, plus Kumail Nanjiani, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, Maya Erskine, and Rory Ross.

Joel Edgerton is also seen in the Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer. He is reprising his role as Luke’s uncle, Owen Lars. Also returning from the prequels is Bonnie Piesse as his wife Beru. Hayden Christensen is also expected to appear as Darth Vader.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut on May 25 on Disney+.  Are you pumped for this next Star Wars series?
