Disney+’s upcoming series Ironheart based on the Marvel Comics character, also known as Riri Williams, has added In the Heights star Anthony Ramos to the cast, although his role has not been announced (and knowing Disney, won’t be, before the show debuts). However, it has been hinted that his character will be similar to Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, who popped up briefly in Loki but will play a larger role in future Marvel Studios projects, both films, and TV shows.
Dominique Thorne portrays the titular hero, a young genius MIT student who inherits the mantle of Tony Stark’s Iron Man. In the comics, Stark was still alive when she debuted, but, of course, in the films, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still mourning the loss of the founding Avenger. Keep in mind, another series that Disney+ has announced is Armor Wars also based on an Iron Man comic book story. Expect Riri Williams to factor into that, and as has already been teased, she will first pop up in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Not Throwing Away His Shot
Ramos’ star has been on the rise in recent years. He had roles on the revival of the NBC sitcom Will & Grace and on the Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It. Then he hooked up with Lin-Manuel Miranda, landing two roles in Hamilton — John Laurens and Philip Hamilton. He appeared in both the stage and film versions of that theatrical blockbuster, which led to Miranda casting him in the film version of In the Heights as the focal character, Usnavi, whom Miranda had originally played himself onstage.
Ramos has also appeared in the movies Godzilla: King of the Monsters and A Star Is Born and on the TV shows In Treatment and Blindspotting. He voices Trollex in the Trolls animated film series.
He will be seen in the upcoming science-fiction feature Distant and in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts which opens on June 9, 2023.
Who Is Ironheart?
Riri Williams first appeared in the Invincible Iron Man comic book in 2016, having been created by Brian Michael Bendis, Mike Deodato, Eve Ewing, and Kevin Libranda. In addition to headlining multiple comics, she has popped up outside of that medium. She was included in the girl-targeted Marvel Rising initiative, having starred in the animated one-shot Marvel Rising: Heart of Iron, in which she was voiced by Sofia Wylie. Wylie also voiced the character in the series Marvel’s Spider-Man. The character is also playable in multiple video games on various platforms.
Ironheart and Armor Wars do not have release dates and haven’t entered production yet. Check back for updates!
