Gugu Mbatha-Raw Confirms Ravonna Renslayer Will Return In ‘Loki’ S2

While some of Disney+’s shows are intentionally conceived of as a limited series, like WandaVision, others have the potential to carry on with additional seasons. It has been confirmed that Loki will be back with more weekly episodes rather than spinning back into the theatrical movie franchise. Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who portrayed the show’s somewhat sinister Ravonna Renslayer, has revealed that she will be back for Season 2.

While the actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are typically tight-lipped about their involvement, Mbatha-Raw did disclose on GMA:

“I know there is a season two… I know that I’m in it…and that’s about all I can say!  I just love Renslayer. I’m just so excited to explore her further, and I’m so happy that people are looking forward to the next season.”

Ravonna Renslayer was last glimpsed stepping into a portal as she explored her new purpose in the multiverse after realizing that the Time Variance Authority was assembled by an outside force. As was also depicted on the show, there are alternate timeline versions of nearly everyone, including Renslayer. She appeared as the principal of a high school in one episode/timeline.

In the comics, Renslayer had a romantic connection with Kang the Conqueror, something that could still be explored on Loki or in the films. Jonathan Majors made his debut as Kang on this program and could potentially be the next Big Bad in the MCU. He is slated to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and could go on to appear after that.

Ravonna Renslayer also has a close connection with Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius. That character should also play a major role in Loki S2.

Wilson has yet to confirm that his character will be back, but both Tom Hiddleston and Sophia Di Martino have stated that they will return. It’s also a safe bet that Majors will be back, after his big-screen appearances.

Regarding Renslayer, Loki head writer Michael Waldrom previously stated:

“She has the making of a very complex villain that has her own set of principles and beliefs that drive her.  She doesn’t believe that what she’s doing is evil. She believes that the mission is for the greater good, and Renslayer probably wishes that she never learned that the Time Keepers were fake, that they had just been able to keep doing this forever.”

Loki S2 has not begun filming yet, so there’s no telling when it will actually be released.  But check back for updates as they arrive!
